Privacy & Data Policy

This page explains, in plain words, what Khimeros keeps about you, why, for how long, and how to ask us to delete it. We will never sell your information.

What we keep

• Your account: your username, email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a strong one-way code (we cannot read them, and neither could anyone who stole a copy of the database).
• Your game: your khimeras, khimbits, grobles, items, currencies, trades and game scores, and what you write on the site: profile text, forum posts, comments, private messages and chat.
• Security records: your IP address when you log in and play, and records of failed logins, so we can stop people breaking into accounts and catch cheating.
• Payments: if you buy beads, PayPal handles the payment. We keep the payment record and the PayPal email address it came from; we never see or keep your card or bank details.
• Help desk: what you write at the help desk, so we can follow up on your report.

We do not ask for or keep your birth date.

How long we keep it

• IP addresses and live chat: 90 days, then deleted automatically.
• Payment records: 6 years.
• Your account and game: for as long as your account exists, or until you ask us to delete it.
• Copies in our routine backups are removed automatically as those backups expire.

Who else sees it

• Our hosting company stores the site and its data on its servers.
• PayPal, when you choose to pay with it.
• Our help desk assistant, Nova, is an AI. What you write at the help desk is read and answered by Nova, using an AI service (currently Anthropic's Claude), with staff overseeing.
• Some pages load common code libraries from Google's servers, which means Google can see your IP address when those pages load.
• Anyone else only if the law requires it, or to investigate theft, fraud or other illegal activity (see our Terms of Service).

Cookies

We use cookies only to keep you logged in, to protect your forms from being misused by other websites, and to remember display choices such as your layout. No advertising or tracking cookies.

Your choices

• See or correct your data: most of it is on your own pages; for anything else, email support@khimeros.com.
• Delete your account: email support@khimeros.com from the email address on your account. We remove everything that identifies you: your email, password, IP addresses, profile and signature, messages, chat, forum posts, help desk reports and login records. Your username is replaced with "Deleted player" and a number. Game objects such as khimeras stay in the game without your name, so other players' khimera family trees are not broken. We will confirm when it is done.

Age

Khimeros is meant for older teens and adults (see the Terms of Service). If you are under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian is fine with you playing.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you on the site and ask you to read it again.
