Don't forget that there is still discussion and voting going in in the previous news post.

I wanted to make another post to clarify some things because I don't think I explained the whole thing very well in my first post.

EVERYONE can participate in Communities whether you are upgraded or not, and they are FREE to join and use, just as the site is.

There will be site-run Communities for roleplay and eventually, battle. Anyone can join. You will be able to create your own roleplay threads and even set some of your own rules for your threads, but you will have to abide by the global Community rules - PG 13 content only, etc.

Because these Communities are site-run, you never have to worry that they will be abandoned and you will lose your RP, etc (unless you are banned for refusing to abide by the rules - which goes for any part of the site). They will be modded by site moderators.

PAID Communities are those that are created by users. This is an extra bonus feature where we are allowing you the OPTION to create your own group that you can set to public or private membership, set your own mods, make your own rules, etc.

We anticipated that people might want to create PAID Communities for a small group of friends to get together and have a club, or a particular kind of roleplay group with different rules and requirements than the official site groups, or maybe just a place for a small group of friends to have a private chatroom. Private user groups are a BONUS feature and that's why they are on a user-paid basis.

If we allow a "member pay" option for paid Communities (which would only be if groups are not tied to user upgrades), then any donations to the Community go *directly* to the Community. No one, whether they own the group or not, is able to withdraw any of the funds donated in this fashion, they go ONLY toward keeping up the Community.

Some of you have heard us talking about Groups (which we've renamed Communities), which are something like a slightly scaled down version of yahoo groups, or the kind of groups that were available for roleplaying on the defunct Avid Gamers (AG) site. Communities can be set to public or private, and you can set your own rules (with some exceptions), set mods and admins, etc.

You will be able to set up Communities to use as your base for Roleplaying, creating "Guilds", eventually using to battle DnD style, etc. There will also be admin-run Communities that anyone can join.

There will also be add-ons that will let you customize your Community toward the use you created it for (dice rollers and character generators for roleplay groups, for example). You can even add a private live chat to your Community. Each add-on will have an upgrade cost in beads.

You may be aware that we originally intended to have the creation of one Community be an upgrade privilege (anyone can join as many Communities as they like, but you'd have to be upgraded to create one).

However... we realized that this was going to create no end of problems if the user were to create several different Communites (paying extra beads to create extras). We've looked at this problem seven ways to Sunday, and there doesn't seem to be a reasonable solution.

So... there are two choices here.

First choice, you can create one Community when you are upgraded. As long as you are upgraded, your Community will remain active. If you become "unupgraded", your Community will go on hold and no one will be able to access it until the owner upgrades again. After a certain period (say, 60 days), if you do not upgrade again your Community will be deleted. However, you will only EVER be able to have ONE at a time. If you wish to create a new Community you'd have to delete your current one.

Second choice, Communities are not tied to upgrades. In which case, you'll pay for each Community you own, separately, in beads. Each basic Community upgrade will get you 30 days of "active" status. In this case, you will be able to create and maintain as many Communities as you wish, so you could have one Roleplaying Community and one Guild, or whatever.

I'm putting this to a vote, and unless we think of something big in the meantime that swings the decision one way or another, this vote will be the deciding factor as to which way we implement Communities.

Please consider carefully before you vote, and vote only once.

Be aware that using multiple accounts to try to swing the vote one way or another will get ALL your accounts frozen.

If you have threads in the forums combining selling, trading, auctioning, pre-orders or whatever, please make new posts in the appropriate new sub-forums and when you are finished, edit the title of your old thread to read PLEASE DELETE so that the mods can delete them.

Thanks for your patience!

Today I finished chopping up the FAQ into separate pieces, for hopefully better digestibility. They are located in the Khimera FAQ subforum.

We also added new subforums for sales, trades, auctions and pre-orders. The admins and mods will be moving threads from the current sales forum into the new subforums tonight.

As far as trades go, if you are trading both items and khimbits, the thread should go in the item trades subforum. If the trade involves khimeras - items for khimeras/khimbits or vice versa, the thread should go in the khimeras subforum (so basically any trade that includes khimeras wanted or up for trade goes in the khimeras subforum).

You are allowed ONE thread in each of the new categories. So, one item sales thread, one item auction, one item trade, etc.

Hopefully this will make things a bit more organized for you guys :)
