I want to give a more general update on Khimeros, and remind everyone that we've only been open for less than a year, and that we're still in Beta.
I think we've come a very long way in the short time we've been open. Our item database has passed 750 items. I think that's a pretty incredible number for a site that has only been open for 10 months. We have nearly finished up all the major "basics" of the site (a few things like Journals are still to come) with the exception of training and battle, and those things are currently in the planning stages. The only thing holding up khimbit breeding is the art, which is still proving a bit problematic but things have improved a lot in that regard in the last little while. I'd just like to remind you all that, if things sometimes feel a little stale and ho-hum, this first year is a time to work on building a solid foundation for the game. Once all the basic features are finished, we'll be working on perfecting all the systems to be as user-friendly as possible, as well as having time for a lot more new and fun things. In particular, I really think that you guys are going to enjoy the V2 breeding system, which will bring in more variety and fun surprises to khimera breeding (and yes some new breeds, too!). Thanks for hanging in there with us! And know that things are only going to get better from here! P.S. For those of you who have been champing at the bit to find out what those shimmering crystals are good for, Nasire is working on that right now, and I think you will be very happy :) 18 Comments |

So, what's going on right now, you wonder?
First off, Onyx is sickly. This makes Onyx want to do nothing but lie around whining and eating soup (while working). You should be glad that I haven't been hanging out in the chat as much these past few days, trust me. I thought I was almost over it last night, then woke up wtih it back again almost full strength this morning. Captain Trips anyone? So yeah, I've not been visible as much on the site and will probably continue that way until this virus is gone. However, stuff IS getting done. Nasire finished up galleries for Khimeros and Aluriya yesterday, as you know. And we're in the middle of migrating Aluriya from the shared server it was developed on, to a dedicated server. That means that there won't have to be any hassle or downtime for server upgrading once we open the site (in theory... ha ha ha). Right now, if you visit Aluriya you may see a notice that says "This is the old server. If you are seeing this, DNS has not yet updated for you." Once this notice goes away and you see the actual site again, you are seeing it on the new dedicated server! What's the difference between shared and dedicated servers? A shared server is, literally, shared. It means that there are many websites all using the same server resources. For anything but a simple, non-interactive site, this would mean very slow page load times and the probability that the site would go down due to exceeding its share of the server resources if there were a number of people actively playing. A dedicated server is a server that is used by one site only. All the resources on that server are for the use of that site and no other. This makes for fast page load and no problem with exceeding bandwidth, yay! A custom demo has been completed for Aluriya, though right now it only has one pose of the Arabi breed in it and some of the markings need tweaking so they don't cover the horn. Once the site is fully migrated I will upload the fixed files and post the URL to the demo. The pose III Arabi is off having markings applied, and I'm working on finishing up base for the Pose I Arabi. We'll be continuing to work on getting the first few breeds ready. Bases for several additional pets have already been completed or near completed :) We're continuing to get other art-related stuff done, and the Aluriya staff are working to prepare some fun games and activities for when the site opens, since game play will not yet be fully functional when we first open. Switching over to the dedicated server, as well as my falling sick, have set us back a bit as far as alpha account flat sale release time, but we thought it would be better to get the move to the dedicated server over and done with now rather than cause disruption on the site later. We'll continue to keep you updated on what's going on :) 10 Comments |

You may now create galleries to display your items! You can create up to five galleries, name them, add a description, and even style them with CSS. You can access your galleries through the "Main" link on the navigation bar.
If you notice any glitches or problems with galleries, please make a post in the Glitches and Bugs forum (check to make sure there is not already another thread started first). Also, name changes have been reset. Even if you have changed your name within the last six months, you may now use a Scroll of Naming to change your name again. Hopefully this will help alleviate some of the confusion from past account changes! 8 Comments |
