We now have a new feature in place - the equipment chest. This is one central place to store all the items that you wish to equip to your khimeras, characters, and eventually your aethers as well.

The most notable feature of the equip chest is that we are switching to the Aluriya system where you only need *one* copy of certain items, and once that item is in your chest, you will be able to use it on all your pets and characters at the same time, instead of needing to purchase multiples.

Items in this category are a) backgrounds; this means full page backgrounds like the marsh, cove, etc. and b) items that come as part of a background pack, for example the mountain sky, snowbound sky, underwater and shore foregrounds, etc.

Please note that items from environment accessory packs - for example the cloud pack, sunset sky pack etc. are NOT included as "shared equips". ONLY those items that come with a full "environment" or background pack or are backgrounds themselves, like the pastel backgrounds.

Also note: in order to have your "shared" items work on all khimeras and characters, you will need to unequip to chest, or add to chest, and then re-decorate in order for them to work properly.

Before you are able to decorate you khim/HA you will be prompted to fill up your equip chest with the items from your inventory. If you happen to add a few items, and wish to add more, you can find the add/remove link in your inventory (under "Equipment Chest"), as well as through the link in "manage equipped items".

Once an item has been placed into your equip chest, it will be removed from your general inventory, and it will be available to be equipped to your HA or your khimeras. Unless it is a multi-equip, it will disappear from the equip chest until you remove it from the khimera/HA. You may still "ghost"; simply do not regenerate the image after removal. When the item is unequipped, it will be returned to your chest. If you have items that have been equipped to a khimera/HA before this went into effect, removing it will place it into your chest.

If you wish to remove something from your chest to your general inventory, you may do so via the link in your inventory.

If you have any further questions about the equip chest, please post it in news, and we will answer it as soon as we are able.

If you have extras of background items that you do not need, please hang onto them for the moment as we will likely be offering a "buy back" option for some unwanted background pack items; however we will not be able to buy back "parts" of a pack. That meants that if you want to be reimbursed for a mountain environment pack, you'll need to turn in both the mountain background and the mountain sky. Stay tuned for more details on this.

You can now receive these spifftacular items randomly when completing Tai and Kai Quests!

At Bronze level:

Blue, Pink, Rainbow, and Seafoam Squid



At Silver level:

Black, Blue, Grey, and White Sharks



At Gold level:

Branch Coral I Pack, Branch Coral II Pack, Tube Anenome Pack, and Soft Coral Pack (each pack contains four colors of item)

In conjunction with retro month/turn in month, for the next month or so we'll be celebrating the Marine Festival!

You can collect these mini crab items while posting in the forums and posting in the Lounge/shoutbox, and during the new, revamped scavenger hunts that we'll be holding!

Crabs also seem to have escaped from the beach (I'm a bit suspicious of woolabit involvement >_>), so you may find them while foraging in all areas, as well!

Please note that you can get a maximum of 5 mini crabs per day from posting in the forums, and remember that you may not spam to get items. There is currently no limit on the number of crabs you can receive while posting in the shoutbox, but only olive crabs are available while chatting. Spamming to get items in the shoutbox will result in a chat ban for the duration of the event!

Marine background packs contain a background + filter. Fish and crab packs contain 5 different colored items. Kelp strand packs contain 3 each of kelp strand I and kelp strand II in the specified color.

As many of you already know, I own another site called Aluriya.



Aluriya was originally intended to be a small cozy community site, which is why we made it a "pay to play" site, meaning that to get access, users needed to pay a one-time $10 fee that got them an account + $15 worth of cash shop items. And while this process was successful in keeping the number of site users limited, it eventually became obvious that a site with such a limited userbase simply could not support itself long-term - both in terms of being about to pull in enough money to pay for the art, programming, and server fees, and in being able to keep an in-site economy going.

In addition, it became obvious that our original ideas for the site were both too ambitious and at the same time too limiting. The amount of art and programming required was causing way too much overhead, yet the game play was simply too limited to keep most people's interest over the long term.

We've been struggling for quite some time to figure out ways to keep the idea of Aluriya as true as possible to the original intention, while "fixing" the site gameplay enough to keep the site viable.

However, what this ended up accomplishing was to steer Alu away from being primarily a "collecting" site and into the realm of a "hybrid" site much like khimeros, where there are both collecting and breeding-type activities.

Over the couple of years Aluriya has existed, the art style has also drawn closer and closer to khimeros' art style, such that as we were planning new items and pets to come out in the future, it became clear that we were essentially going to end up repeating the exact same kind of dress-up items, pets, and mini pets as already exist on khimeros.

Thus, after some discussion, the decision was made that we will be merging Aluriya with Khimeros.

Aluriya will be "ported" over as a separate land that users can access from the main Khimeros site. All existing Aluriya users will have access to the land of Aluriya, but Khimeros users without an Aluriya account will need to "earn" access to Alu by an in-game method, rather than by paying cash for an account.

All the features that exist on Alu right now, will remain on Alu (though we will be revamping the game play quite a bit during the merger process). Think of it as a separate area of the site that you can access to participate in Au-themed activities, like gathering items from areas like the orchard and herb garden, collecting "aether" pets and hibbari "mini pets", harvesting sprites, creating your own personal floating islands, etc. We will be putting up an info page with full details on all the activities that you can participate in from the Aluriya portion of the site, but it's too much to cover in this news post.

You will be able to use your decorative items from both Aluriya AND Khimeros to decorate your islands, your khimeras, your HAs, etc. In addition, all mini pets will be useable on both parts of the site. We will also be making some things like serums useable on aethers, and some things that are currently only available for aethers, useable on khimeras as well. Lairs and menageries, khimbit dens and hibbaru dens, etc., will remain separate.

The $5 monthly upgrade will also apply to ALL areas of the site, giving you much more bang for your buck (extra dice rolls AND extra gathering turns, for example).

I'd also like to stress that you CAN still choose to only use Khimeros features or only use Aluriya features. Yes, you will miss out on some of the items and mini pets released if you do so, but you can always trade for those items that you really want to have.

I am sure that there will be a lot of questions in regards to the merger plans, but I don't want to turn this news post into too much of a "tl;dr", so I'm just going to end it here. We'll try to answer as many questions as possible in the news comments, but please keep in mind that we will not be able to answer everything in exact detail right now, as we are still working out merger details.
