The following News post applies to all default purebred future bases!! That's right! We have ANOTHER new khimera base to introduce--the Roving Likos! Please be sure to FULLY read the News Post (and comments) regarding the new bases and breeding system!! Now, when you are creating NEW Roving Likos customs, you will receive an additional FREE PATTERN! This means that you can choose either of the following options when creating your new customs: 3 Patterns + 1 Variation -OR- 2 Patterns + 2 Variations (In the past, it would have been 2 Patterns + 1 Variation, or 1 Pattern + 2 Variations.) Breed Marking, Under, and Upper are all still free. Breed marking applies to the nose color on the Roving Likos. This also applies for users that have recently created new CUSTOMS (Gen1) on the Leaping Ayalon base! If you have recently created a new Ayalon, please be sure to submit a Help Desk Report, and we will get everything adjusted for you as soon as possible. We know that people have been anxiously awaiting new "default" bases. After much consideration, and in order to be able to release a greater variety of default khimera bases, we have updated the way khimera bases and khimera breeding works. If you are familiar with the alternate base system, where visible variations are determined by the base rather than khimera genetics, this shouldn't be a big change for you. For example, all Khirin have the Mane variation (mutation), regardless of the chance they could have it passed down from a parent. They also can have other mutations in their genetics, such as wings, even though they don't show up on the Khirin image. The Mane on a Khirin custom can be specified and doesn't need to be the same colour as the rest of the body. However, if a Khirin offspring is born from parents that don't have Mane in their genetics the Mane variation will simply be the same color as the base. The new khimera bases operate in the same way. New bases will have variations included, making them visible in the image, or they will exist in their genetics only. Our first release, the Leaping Ayalon, has no visible variations, but it can still carry any/all variations in their genetics. While this may seem as though it limits our khimera's variety and interest, it will actually allow us to release many more bases, much more often. These are some of the reasons why we've opted for this improvement! Hibbary feels that she can create a much higher quality of khimera base if there is not a requirement for "paste on" variations. Because of the nature of the khimera bases, it takes equal time/effort/money to make a single wing as it does to make an entire pet base. That means that for the same time/effort/money as it takes to make a single base with feather wings and bat wings, we could have (roughly) FIVE entirely new pet bases instead. So, with the new system we can bring out a greater variety of FREE default bases for you to enjoy, as well as the usual limited edition bases like witara, purrdra etc. Instead of a single default base for each breed, we'll be able to offer many different default bases over time, and you'll have a chance to get a variety of bases when you breed! For example, imagine that over time there could be fox, wolf, husky, german shepherd, etc. bases for "likos". We can have fun events like limited edition default bases available to all - for example, imagine a reindeer ayalon base that is only available during December. In this case, the khimeras would become highly collectable as some limited edition bases would NOT pass down via breeding. Without further ado, let us introduce the first base in the new series, the Leaping Ayalon! You may remember the Leaping Ayalon as one of the Christmas bases Hibbary made for us a few years back! We are excited to finally be able to get these bases into production! When we add an additional default base, for example if we added a Leaping Ayalon with antlers, there would be an equal chance of receiving a Leaping Ayalon or Antlered Leaping Ayalon, and a rare chance to get the vintage or khirin base, etc. Because of the different way that variations are handled with the new system, we will be making variation addition, subtraction and color changing items much more readily available. Keep your eyes open for news on this. If you wish to change your Vintage Ayalon into a Leaping Ayalon, you may do so via the Alternator. Please excuse the preview in the Alternator, for now you can check how your khimera will look via the "Edit Through Demo" link on your Khimera's profile. Emergency Duct Tape is required for conversion, now available for 1 TR in the trinket section of the cash shop! ;) The Serum Reposition Potions are now for sale as well to make converting your Ayalons even easier!
