Today, codergirl worked on the database tables for the khimeras, and the custom generator (not the demo, the actual generator that creates Khimeras on your account). Lairs (where your khimeras live) and khimera profiles were also started!
We actually generated two test khimeras on the site today as well, which was kind of exciting :) Also, we had to make a change to the ayalon (deer) breed. Hibbary wanted to make some different kind of horn mutations for the khimeras, which of course would not work if any khimera breed came with default horns, as the ayalon did. We also thought it would be nice for the other pets to be able to have antlers as a mutation. Therefore, the antlers have been removed from the ayalon base and will now be available as mutations! I continue to work away at the pet files for the custom demo/generator. Making good progress on them despite having to keep redoing files over and over again as we decide to change things x_x 0 Comments |

Today was a bit of a mixed bag. Did some tweaks, finished up the chat, discussed some things we need to make decisions on as far as details of implementation, but mostly codergirl was training me on how to work with the site XD
I don't like not knowing how things work or not knowing how to do things on my own site, so even though I am not a coder, she is teaching me how to do things like alter text, change settings, enable and disable scripts and pages, upload content to the site, etc. by directly accessing the site code, rather than having to rely on "mod tools". That means that even if she is not available for some reason, I will be able to make some needed changes on the site, update the item files, etc. Also, the more I know about how the database is set up, what kind of data tables we have and how they interact, the easier it is to brainstorm new ideas that can actually work, and to make things more efficient for Hibbary and I as far as not having to do things over and over because we don't understand exactly how items, or pets, etc. are implemented. Still working on the pet files for the demo. There were a total of 744 new files that had to be prepared and saved (three wings for each breed, wing markings, and the new markings Hibbary whipped up) o_0; Of those I have 302 files (2 pets) finished and I'm soldiering on with the rest even though I have a blister on my finger from my track pad, which has NEVER happened to me before in my life XD XD Hibbary has finished the last two jump pages, so they are all ready to go. And that's your update for today! 0 Comments |

Well, today I worked some more on the interminable wing/marking files. Asadia is 100% complete, and I'm working on Kalan.
Some more work was done on the messaging system, and we got the chat up ^_^ It just needs tweaking, which we will do tomorrow. Unfortunately, you won't be able to use the chat anymore until you have an account on the actual site and are logged in, as the chat now runs off the main site database. It also works a bit differently than the temp chat did and has more functionality :) Hibbary send me over most of the images for the main "area" pages: meadow, forest, mountains, beach, and swamp. They look really good, as I'm sure you can imagine :P 0 Comments |

Permit me to BAAAAAAAW again over these pet files? XD
The master file for the pets is so big now (over 80 MB) that it takes ten minutes for photoshop to save it. But anyways. Ya. All these layers have to be saved in the right format for the compiler. I was almost caught up. But Hibbary got a whole bunch of new markings completed for all the pets... which is absolutely fabulous! It will be so much nicer to have so many choices right from the start. But.. you guessed it. A lot more files to save, which means a bit more delay XD Especially since I had to actually LEAVE THE HOUSE today. The horror! Other than pet files, the messaging system was worked on today. I thought it would be nice to implement something that would allow users to select and download their inbox messages to their computer in one file so that you can keep them for your records if you like, but not have to copy and paste them into a text file :3 I thought this might particularly interest anyone planning to roleplay via PM. So our lovely coder-girl is working on that. Hibbary turned in the completed first background for HAs and pets today and... it's FAB. I'm not just talking about the base image, though that is certainly lovely! The backgrounds (sometimes called wallpapers on other sites) work a bit differently than I personally have seen on other pet sim sites... I think you guys will find them to be really fun and amazing ^_^. 0 Comments |

Yay for the first ever Khimeros News update!
We're going to start keeping a log of the daily work that we are doing to get the site ready to go, for those who may be interested :3 Today we: -Finalized the site layout and coded the layout into existing pages. -Finished the login and registration scripts -Worked on the home page and staff page -Finished the news page (news can be added by admins and viewed by users) -Tags can be uploaded And probably some other stuff that I've forgotten. On the art front, Hibbary made some needed changes to the wings and some tweaks to the pets that were needed for the custom demo, and I'll be getting those files ready to upload tonight/tomorrow. (No, Onyx doesn't code. But she... supervises. Yes, supervises XD And is Hibbary's art slave). 3 Comments |
