This is an informative post regarding custom creation.

Today we have been testing out the custom creator and everything seems to be working smoothly. After a few more tests, I will be depositing the hybrid tokens for those who have purchased them.

We will have the Chrysalis Cave, where you purchase chrysalids with beads, up very soon, possibly even tomorrow.

With that in mind, I wanted to clarify some things about custom creation.

Regular (purebred) chrysalids are freely available and cost $20 (40 beads) each. This gives you 2 patterns (markings) and 1 variation (mutation). Also, the markings "upper" and "lower" are always free with every custom!

Additional patterns (and later, variations), will be available when you make your custom, simply by adding beads. When you make your custom design in the demo, when you scroll down the page you will be able to see how many extra beads, if any, your design will cost, and what kind of chrysalis you need to create it. Extra markings cost $10 (20 beads).

If you click on the picture of the chrysalis and you have a chrysalis like this in your inventory, it will create the custom that you are previewing in the demo, be warned! There is currently no "are you sure?"-type button.

A Note on Pet Gender

Please be careful when selecting your pet's gender. Unlike other sites you will NOT be allowed to change your pet's gender later. The gender will remain the same always.

This is a general announcement regarding purchasing "beads", our cash shop currency, through the site.

To purchase beads, click on the word "beads" in the upper right corner of the page. This will take you to the beads purchase page, which currently has a picture of Khistopher which, when you click it, will take you to paypal.

Beads are sold in strings of 10, and each bead costs 50 cents, meaning that a string of 10 beads costs $5.

Custom khimera chrysalids cost $20 each (40 beads). Extra markings for your khimera, which are purchased separately, cost $10 each (20 beads).

When you purchase beads, they should immediately show up in your bead total under your username and trinkets in the upper right corner of the page. If half an hour passes and you still do not have your beads, please message Onyx ON THE FORUMS NOT THE SITE to let me know that you have not received them.

So, I'm going to be selling a batch of hybrid chrysalids at some time later today.

We will sell a total of 50 chrysalids (not all today), plus staff will be offered the opportunity to purchase one each at a discount, as a thank-you for their hard work so far <3

What is a hybrid token? A hybrid token allows you to create a custom hybrid, simply put. The "normal" chrysalids are single-species purebred chrysalids, and these are the only custom chrysalids that will be freely available. Hybrid chrysalids will be an uber-rare random restock in the Chrysalid Cave (and by uber-rare I mean that only two hybrid chrysalids will restock per month... though of course we'll have to adjust that slightly once the site gains thousands of members XD)

Other than that, only small numbers of hybrid chrysalids will be available to purchase, on rare and special occasions.

I will open a thread for hybrid token sales later today, and it will simply stay open until ten tokens have been spoken for. ONE per person, please. Once there has been a reasonable chance for people to get one if they want one, we'll let you purchase additional chrysalids if there are any left over.

Chrysalids are $40 each and they will be placed into your account (if you have one) as soon as custom generation is active. Otherwise, just like monthly treasures, they will be placed in your account as soon as you have an account. All base tokens come with 2 patterns (markings) and 1 variation (mutation), and you may add extra patterns/variations for 20 beads ($10) each, at the time you make your custom :)

I am proud to announce that Khimeros has made our first monthly donation of $25 to Kiva, an international organization that aids entrepreneurs, mostly in developing countries, who would not otherwise be able to borrow funds to help grow their small businesses. Often these small businesses are the difference between starvation and a small measure of prosperity for a family. It is particularly difficult for women in these countries to receive loans from traditional sources.

How this works is that we loan out the money to the individual, and it is eventually paid back to Kiva, at which time we can choose to lend it out to another individual. By donating $25 each month to Kiva, in a year's time we will have contributed $300 and it will only continue to grow!

Most of us have heard the phrase "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime". Contributing to Kiva is in the spirit of helping others to help themselves.

We also contributed an additional 15% toward the running expenses of Kiva itself, since 100% of donations otherwise to directly to the individual who is requesting assistance.

You may now forage in the mountains as well as the meadow and forest :)

The second in our series of old fashioned jumbo plushies was released today, made by our newest artist, TehTwi! One Arabasti plushie was sent out to all alpha account holders, and one will be sent out to all upcoming alpha accounts as well :)



On the topic of alpha accounts, fear not, there will be PLENTY more alpha accounts realeased! However, we are trying to make sure that the site is handling our current numbers well before we add any more new members. Especially seeing as we just released the custom demo to the public, and the large numbers of people coming to the site to play with the demo is also a stress factor. Other than a few brief periods of lag, the site seems to be holding up very well :3

We would also like to get a few more things, like custom generation, functional before adding more new members. Don't worry though, it won't be long!
