I know we've had a couple bouts of intermittent downtime. Of course, this always happens just after Nas has gone to bed.

I contacted the server guys but I don't speak code-speak unfortunately, so I am betting that this is something that will have to wait for Nas. I'll contact them again if it happens again, but be prepared for intermittent downtime until I can get Nas on whatever this is to get it fixed. It appears to have something to do with our Apache settings.

Today Onyx gave all upgraded accounts from October their monthly item, so you should have a String of Beads in your inventory. This item is not to be confused with the Cash variant of Beads, it is only wearable by your Khimeros.

As most of you know for our previous cryptic news post, we added crafting a couple of days ago. Currently, only the accessory crafter is available. Visit Lin by clicking on the "Accessory Crafter" link on the forest jump page.

I'm just going to explain a little bit about crafting and how items work on the site, for those of you who were not on the temp forums and may not know.

Khimeros does not have any site-run shops... like the pear shop on wajas or the Monastery shop on Tygras, for example. You can't buy any "finished" items, like clothes, accessories, etc. from site shops.

These kind of items come from crafting :) Basically, you forage for "ingredient" items in the forest, mountain, meadow, etc. and then use these items to make useable items through crafting.

There will be seperate NPCs for different items like clothing, accessories, armor and weapons, etc.

I have been hearing a lot of grumbling about how "everything is only for beads" on khimeros/"people who spend real money get too much advantage." This is NOT the case. The vast majority of all items and khimbits will be available not through direct purchase with beads, but through foraging and/or crafting.

However, it will take us a bit of time to build up a supply of craftable items. Please keep in mind that these items have to be ordered and paid for, and each single accessory item, depending on size and complexity, can cost $30 - $50 a set or even more. This is on top of general site art, coding, and server bills.

So, you can see why we DO need to sell some things for beads. The people who purchase beads are the ones paying for all the site expenses, and making the site available for other people to play %100 for free, so they DO deserve the advantages that they get.

We now have a new feature, a ticker above the chat that displays the most recent active posts from all the sales forums :)

Anyone who wants to keep an eye on the latest sales can "toggle" the ticker to "on". If you don't want to see the latest sales, simply toggle the ticker to "off".

With this new feature, sales are no longer allowed in the chat. This means, posting links to your shop, asking people to "check out your shop", informing people that new things have been added to your shop, selling beads, art, offsite items/pets or anything else.

You MAY still post a link to your newborn or priced sales khimas ONCE a day, whether to an individual khimera or a group is up to you, but only ONCE per day. If this gets out of hand, we'll have to change this policy.

I hope this will make the chat a little more sane for everyone :)

And, we've reset the background images to white as a default. We may consider other options later.
