This post is to explain what's coming up with the V2 Khimera System.

The current method of combining a front and back half of each pet in the compiler was designed to make things easier and faster. We would not have been able to afford the cost of the art, and the time to create, six breeds plus all their hybrids, plus all their variations and mutations from scratch, when the site first opened. However, this method proved to be actually a lot more time consuming and stressful for the artist than we had anticipated. The parts of the pets are very "fiddly" and frustrating to work with, which has made for delays in getting the original pets (now considered Series I Pets) converted to a lineless form.

In addition, we feel that in time the pets will start to feel "stale" if new pets always have to come out in the exact same pose in order to match up with all the other front and back pets.

The original six pets will be the only Series I Pets (at least that's the plan right now). We are now moving on to Series II Khimeras!

When introducing a new khimera breed, they will no longer have to be in the same pose as the other pets. Each pet, all their hybrids, patterns, and variations will be individually drawn, and all the previous items and khimbits will be adjusted for each pose. We can do this because we don't have to release six pet breeds plus all their accoutrements all at once.

In order to be able to get all the hybrids finished for a particular pet in a reasonable time frame (it will still probably take about a year for all hybrids for a breed), we've had to make a few changes. The biggest one is that there will no longer be two hybrids per combo (front asadia/back likos and front likos/back asadia, for example). Instead, there will be a single hybrid introduced for each pet combo, that is a *true* hybrid of the two instead of just chopping off the front of one and applying it to the back of another.

New pets will be introduced as purebreds. Over time, the various hybrid combos with other existing pets will be introduced (we're aiming for one new hybrid every couple of months). In the meantime you will only be able to get purebreds when breeding a new pet to an old pet (or to other new pets).

This is only the beginning of what's coming in V2!

There will also be alternate variations of existing breeds - the panthira is the first example of this, as it is an alternate asadia. Other alternates will come from various sources. We may have more khimbits that can be turned into alternate pets, and there will be some alternates (including hybrids) that you can only get from breeding. Some alternates may only be possible once you've reached a certain high generation, some may be only for lower generations.

When breeding, there's a rare chance for an offspring to come out looking the same as the alternate parent, otherwise they will breed using the "underlying" pet's markings and colors.

We will also have "special colors" of pets... for example a "fire" pet or a "galaxy" pet or whatever. These will be available through breeding, on a limited edition basis, and will have certain requirements for breeding - for example, perhaps you'll need an asadia with vines and fae flames bred to a likos with vines and fae flames, which gives you the chance to birth a "Oceanic" likos-asadia hybrid during the time this color is available.

Of course, not all of this stuff will be rolled out at the same time and is subject to change! We'll be attempting to have something new along these lines coming out on a fairly regular basis however. This should make breeding a lot more interesting!

You can now have a Venus shell to go with your Venus hair! Lin is crafting six varieties for a limited time (we'll let these run a week or so into September since it's a bit late in the month).



This item is equippable to both characters and khimeras.

Just a heads up, the rest of the limited edition items from this month will be disappearing on September 1st, so be sure to finish up your crafting before then.

The Venus hair has also received its revamp (the other new hairstyles are still waiting on theirs).
