As a few of you may remember from waaaaaaaaaay back in the temp forum days before the site was open, in June of 2009 we sold our first monthly treasures. Of course, since there was no site at that time, there were no forageable 'bits to go with the treasure bits!

Soooo since it's now been over two years, we decided to bring some old friends back to the site as forageables!

On another note, quests have now returned to their normal daily number of 15 for upgraded users and 10 for regular users. We hope the increased number of quests allowed you to catch up a bit!

It's retro month! And that means retro packs!

For those of you who were not here last year, when you open a retro pack you will randomly receive one monthly treasure pack from any previous month, from June 2009 to February 2011! There is a slightly better chance to get older packs than newer packs. Arabi packs are included, and even the coveted Haiti packs (though Haiti packs are very rare!).

We also have a special bonus for you this year!

When opening retro packs, there is a rare chance to receive a bonus item - a random gryph chrysalis! When you click this chrysalis, it will create a generation 1 gryph khimera.

Your new khimera will come in one of 5 random "custom" colors and a random gender. Under the custom color, your pet's base will be either pure white or pure black, and have a random eye color for breeding purposes.

We also recognize how frustrating it can be to spend a large amount of money with the hope of getting a specific item, and then being disappointed. In light of this, if you *open* 25 single retro packs in one account, you will receive a "Special Gryph Chrysalis".

When you use a Special Gryph Chrysalis, you will be allowed to choose from 10 "custom" colors, choose the gender, and choose a base color and eye color for breeding purposes.

For those wanting custom demo/createable gryphs, you will need to wait for the treasure trade-in event, where you can trade in treasures for gryph khimbit packs, and a chance to win demo-able gryph chrysalids!

These five colors of gryph are available via the random gryph chrysalids:

Black and Gold, and Dawn



Luminous, and Citrus



Toxic



These colors are also available to choose when using a Special Gryph Chrysalis, with these additional colors available:

Smoke, and Marine



Lightstorm, and Flame



Royal



Retro packs cost $4 for singles and 6 for a double pack. They are available in the cash shop now, only until the end of July!

Please note that gryph *breeding* is not enabled yet! We will post news when this feature is available.

After taking some time to re-evaluate the difficulty of questing, we have decided to implement some changes to the quest system.



Even though at the end of the month, questing turns will go back down to their normal number, we decided to permanently change the chance of being asked for a 'rare' item to be essentially double of what it was originally. We think that this will make it a bit easier for users to earn the ability to participate in features like the Wishing Well, without making it so easy that it's not still special. We'll continue to monitor questing, and may decide whether to make further tweaks to the system as time goes on.


Additionally, as some of you may remember from last year, July is retro month!  That means that there will be special monthly treasure packs from which you can randomly obtain any of the monthly treasure packs ever released on the site (treasures from the last three months will be excluded).



Because retro month tends to create a glut of less-wanted treasure items, in August we will hold another treasure trade in event, and Onyx is giving us all a sneak peek at what's in store.  You will be able to trade in any item from monthly treasure packs and get special trade-in packs in return.


This year we are offering something very special - an entirely new khimera breed (an actual new breed, not an alternate), only available through the trade-in event (we may offer small numbers as contest prizes, etc, as well).


These will also be available in khimbit form.  We are not sure what all the details will be yet, but we'll update you when we have everything sorted out ;)

Now when you are decorating your khimeras, you will have the ability to equip multiples of the same item to them!



You can only equip up to the number of items in your inventory (so if you have four 'squirrel woolabits,' you wouldn't be able to equip five of them to your khimera), and you will be able to equip up to 50 total items on a khimera at the time.


The Winterfest Prize Shop will also be closing sometime tomorrow, so please make sure you've spent all your snowballs/points if you haven't already!

There is a new breedable khimbit availabe, a hybrid between the Drakes and Suans. Behold, the Drasunas!



It comes in Champagne, Lilac, Midnight, and Mosaic.




You will have to figure out which breeding combinations produce which colors! Khimbit breeding can be accessed through the Meadow on Khimeros Central.


In addition, there is small chance that your khimbits will have twins! When this occurs, not only will they produce a Drasuna of the normal color, but a special color of Drasuna will be produced as well. Any breeding combination can produce twins/a black Drasuna.





And to celebrate the new Enigma patterns, the Monthly Item for upgraded users is now...





...the Rainbow!


Also please be aware that to avoid any further confusion since we are no longer offering custom khimbits, we will be removing the Khimbit Pre-Order forum, and the threads therein, sometime over the next few days. If you have any images or information in those forums that you wish to keep, please consider this fair warning that you need to save them.
