Retro Month is here! You can now find Retro Packs in the cash shop.

For those who may have never participated in our special summer events before, the purpose of retro month is to allow users to "catch up" on items from previous treasure packs that they may have missed out on. This usually results in a vast increase in all monthly treasure items, so we have a follow-up event in August where users can "turn in" unwanted/excess treasures to get points that they can use to buy special items only available during turn-in month. This prevents a glut of devalued treasures on the market for the rest of the year. There will be another news post explaining all about turn-in month later in July!

For those of you who were not here last year, when you open a retro pack you will randomly receive one monthly treasure pack from any previous month, from June 2009 to March 2014, OR a special event item (see below for a list)! Arabi, Haiti, and Japan Relief packs are excluded this year to preserve their value.

We have also increased the rarity of a few of the older packs whose contents have decreased too far in price, to preserve their value.

Special Event Items

In addition to monthly treasure packs, 2013 retro packs contain the following items. Please note these are not bonus items, they are regular items you can get when opening a retro pack:

Variation Addition, Variation Subtraction, Variation Color Change Potions



Pattern Addition, Pattern Subtraction, Pattern Color Change Potions



Base Color Change Potions, Malkin Platinum Tokens, Bobtail Malkin Platinum Tokens, and Faewyn Platinum Tokens



The pattern, variation and base color changers can be used to freshen up the look of any existing khimera with the EXCEPTION of special and random gryphs. Allowing these items to be used on gryphs would mean that users could apply them to comparatively cheap special/random gryphs and create new gryph customs for a fraction of the price of a gryph chrysalis, which would be extremely unfair to those who paid high prices to get their demo gryph chrysalids. We hope you all understand the necessity for this exception.

Much like the Shidar Chrysalids last year, all three platinum tokens are items within each retro pack and not bonus items. You have the chance to receive a random platinum token every time you open a retro pack. Also carrying over from last year are guaranteed bonus items! This year, whenever you open 25 Retro 2014 packs you are guaranteed to receive a Retro Random Platinum Coin:



When used, this item will randomly open into one of the three available platinum tokens. There is no limit on the number of Retro Random Platinum coins you may receive; you will get one each time you open 25 retro packs.

PLEASE NOTE: At this time, all of the retro platinum tokens are unusable, and the regular Malkin PSD is currently unavailable due to some bugs we're working on in regards to the underlay bases. You may still download the Bobtail Malkin and Faewyn PSDs to create your customs, but you will not be able to submit them at this time. We will post news once you are able to do so.



Retro packs cost $4 for singles and $6 for a double pack. They are available in the cash shop now, only until the end of July!



Note: you may open up to 6 single retro packs at a time using the multi-pack opener, to reduce duplicates (due to the way the pool is set up this will REDUCE the chance for duplicates but not eliminate it). This will not reduce your chances at platinum tokens.

We seem to have run into a few glitches when trying to begin our Retro festivities, so for now Retro packs have been removed from the cash shop. We ask that anyone who already purchased packs to please not open your remaining packs. We may have to issue refunds, and that will be easier if you leave you packs unopened.

IN ADDITION: If you received three of a single platinum token from a single round of pack opening (IE you opened ten single packs and got three Malkin tokens), please place two of those tokens into your safe deposit box; you really received one, and the two ended up in your packs on accident. If you received two of a single kind of potion from a single round of pack opening (IE you opened ten single packs and got two variation addition potions), please place one of those potions into your safe deposit box, as it is an extra you were not supposed to get. The rest of your items are correct and you will not be losing those.

We were able to give out one invite to each Aluriya user today for Aluriya V 2.0 closed beta! We understand that a lot of people are eager to get an invite, but please do not ask/hint for invites in the site chat. You may post on the aluriya thread in other site chatter in the forums to let people know you would like an invite, but please remember that there won't be a lot of invites this time. More will come out soon!
