On more than one occasion, and fairly recently, Staff and users alike have been noticing some very "heavy" topics in the live chat (Lounge/Shoutbox) and Forums. While we will not list specific topics that have been brought up in this News post--we will not be pinpointing anyone specific--we would like to reiterate one of the Live Chat Rules: "7. Please keep discussion of "heavy" topics regarding serious health/mental health/other real-life issues to a reasonable minimum. The Lounge/Shoutbox are intended for light chatting." On top of this rule, we want users to know that the posting of personal information and situations--including, but not limited to, people with serious health/mental health/real-life issues--of people you are somehow involved with (family members, friends, neighbors, etc.) is also against site rules. This is not just to protect you, but other users as well. Another reason to avoid heavy topics is that there are people out there who specifically look for those who have troubles in their life, and will attempt to exploit them. Again, this is to protect everyone on site. If there is a heavy topic you need/want to discuss, we ask that you consider moving to a more private venue to continue the conversation if you need someone to talk to, or to simply change the topic completely. Should a Staff member not be available in the Lounge while a "heavy" topic is being discussed, we are asking users report the topic(s) via the Help Desk. This is to be done only if the topic at hand cannot be deterred, and assistance from Staff is unavailable. The appropriate information to be included in these reports would be the names/numbers of the user(s) involved, and the date/time of the situation. In regards to all of this, we urge users to carefully read over the Terms of Service, and the Communications Rules, again.
