Serums are now available for use by clicking the serum in your inventory, or through the custom demo if you are creating a new khimera! Gogogo!



Also, the Gryph Chrysalids are now available for use in the custom demo and are open for breeding!

Gryph Chrysalids come with mane and feather wings by default. They also come with the usual 1 free pattern/2 free variations or 2 variations/1 pattern.

Gryphs will never *show* any variations other than feather wings and mane, however if you are planning to breed your gryph to other breeds, you may want to add variations for breeding purposes. These will pass on just as usual, but will not be visible in gryph offspring.

You may choose the color of your gryph's mane and wings.

This also applies to gryphs obtained from special chrysalids. If you wish to change the colors on your gryph, please check out THIS thread.



Please take a moment to read a not very brief explanation of how Gryph breeding works, in order to avoid mass confusion. :P

When you breed two gryphs together that have a normal gryph image (a custom demo image), breeding works the way it would for any other breed.

When you breed a normal gryph with a gryph that has a limited edition image (such as the ones obtained with a Special or Random Gryph Chrisalis), you will either receive offspring that show a blend of the two parents' markings just like a normal breeding, or an offspring that displays the image of the limited edition parent. The probability of getting a gryph offspring that shows the limited edition image is the same as the panthiras and wulfs, which is 20%.

When you breed two gryphs together that both have a limited edition image, it works the same as the panthiras and the wulfs. 40% of the time the offspring will have one of the parents' limited edition images, and 60% of the time they will be the normal demo blends of the parents underlying genetics.

Gryphs are a rarer breed than the other breeds on Khimeros, both in the number of chrysalids released and in how the breed passes on genetically.

When you breed a Gryph to a non-Gryph, you will only have roughly an 25% chance of getting a Gryph offspring. Unlike Draaks, Gryphs will never be capable of producing hybrids. The offspring will either be a Gryph or it will not.

When a Gryph with a limited edition image is bred to a non-Gryph, there is only approximately a 5% chance that the offspring will be a Gryph with the limited edition image. HOWEVER, there is always a 20% chance that even a non-Gryph offspring may be carrying the limited edition image. Therefore, there is a VERY SMALL chance that if the non-Gryph offspring carrying the limited edition image is bred to another Gryph, then the limited edition image could show in the offspring.

Due to some unforseen difficulties with the gryph demo script, we will have to delay the release of creating customs/breeding for one more day. Sorry guys :c Having the wings and mane come standard on gryphs is causing us to have to make some adjustments.

But, monthly treasures are out!!

This month's khimbit is the Chilla!

Chilly, Twinkle, Toffee, Natural and Granite chillas may be found in the monthly treasure packs!



Also found in the packs are the yellow and peach leis:



Annnd our very first genetic serum, the smoke serum! Serums come in a pack that, when opened, yield 2-4 individual serums, randomly! This should help ensure there are enough to go around without limiting the gene pool too much.



This month's bonus item is the Rose Garden Chilla!!



Please note: serums are not useable yet. We will be working hard at getting these new items/features working as soon as we can (hopefully by tomorrow!).

The trade-in event has begun! It will run through the end of the month.

For those who don't know what the trade-in event is, this is your chance to trade in any unwanted cash shop items to get points that you can trade for gryph packs or raffle tickets. When opening the packs, you could get one of 10 colors of gryph khimbit, or you could get a shiny gryph chrysalis that you can use in the custom creator!



3 points will get you a single gryph pack, 5 points will get you a double pack, and 1 point will get you a raffle ticket.

Up for raffle this time is the limited edition raspberry swirl chilla khimbit (sneak peek of the upcoming monthly treasure khimbit breed :P) Five winning ticket holders will each receive one copy of this khimbit.



We are increasing the chance of getting a gryph chrysalis to double the chance that you had to get a panthira statue last year :3

Go HERE to trade in your items. All cash shop items, including the ones from this month (which will be released tomorrow) are eligible to be traded in. Haiti pack items and Japan pack items are eligible for trade in. You can also trade in panthira khimbits and these will give you 2 points instead of the usual 1 point.

Monthly treasure PACKS, and other cash shop items are not eligible for the trade in. Only the items that come out of monthly treasure packs or the Japan/Haiti packs.

Gryph khimbit colors are similar to the gryph khimera collectible colors, but a bit different so that each special color of gryph khimera will have a companion khimbit that compliments them!




Just a side note on Japan packs - with all the new features we've been working on, and retro month, the second round of Japan packs kind of got lost in the shuffle. We've decided that instead of releasing more Japan packs in the cash shop now, we will release those items on the site and instead, hold another red cross fund raiser when things have settled a bit.

Gryph chrysalids are NOT useable yet. They will be enabled tomorrow and we will then give you more info on breeding gryphs.

One last thing! We have tried very hard to make sure that all treasure items are included in the trade-in event and that items that are not supposed to be included, are not. However, there are literally hundreds of items, so if you spot something that is able to be traded in that should not be, or vice versa, please post here in the news comments.

Remember that taking advantage of glitches or oversights is not allowed and will have consequences.

This is your last warning that retro packs will be removed from the cash shop any time after midnight.

In addition, this is a reminder that the Rainbow Enigmas will be leaving the wishing well August 3rd or as soon thereafter as we are ready to make the switch. Yes, that means that Enigma Essence will also disappear from the cash shop (though you can of course continue to use any enigma essences that you own).

We hope to start the trade-in event tomorrow, barring any complications. For those who have not noticed, gryph markings are now in the demo as well :3

All gryphs created from the chrysalids available in the trade in event, will come with mane and wing variations by default. That means that yes you will be able to change the color of the mane and wings, however this will not be enabled in the demo until tomorrow.

While experimenting with some new battle strength teas in the tea shop, Onyx made a startling new discovery! She discovered a way to make gene-altering serums that can add a new coat pattern to the genetic structure of khimeras!



By using these serums on your khimera, you can choose the color of the pattern, and also the size and placement! You can move the pattern around on the khimera, and shrink it or increase the size!

Currently six dyes have been added to the custom demo for demonstration purposes only. You can play around with these serum "dyes" but not actually use them on a khimera. In order to use them, you will need to obtain the actual serum.

-Serums can be moved around on your pet, and resized to get the exact look you want! You can use more than one kind of serum on your pet, but only one of the *same* serum.

-You may re-serum the same pet with the same serum type, but you will use up another bottle each time.

-Serums will be able to be applied to any khimera that you own, or any new khimera that you create, assuming you have the bottle in your inventory.

-Serums will be available in a variety of ways - through monthly treasure packs, to purchase for beads, for trinkets, and through site events. Serums will be limited edition items, though they will eventually cycle back into availability again.

-When you apply a serum in the demo, you won't see it right away. You need to click "move" in order for it to show, it will show in the upper left corner, and you can move it from there.

-Use move and resize to apply the serum the way you want it. If it freezes up and won't move or resize, just hit apply again. If the pattern gets so big it covers the move/resize buttons, click "Q" on your keyboard to hide the pattern.

-The serums currently in the demo are for demo purposes only, not sure whether we will be releasing those exact patterns first or not. These are "texture" type "dyes", we will also have "pattern" types as well that have a more defined look.

-Serum patterns will breed and pass down exactly like all other markings, except that they will take their size and position randomly from either parent, as long as both parents have the pattern. If only one parent has the serum, then it will use that parent's size and position.

--Serums will become available on the site starting in August!
