Hi all! The May monthly items for upgraded users are now out, and with them we're introducing a shiny new feature...



Adding to this month's space theme is the Meteor Shower - wander over to the Treasure Trove to find yourself a bundle of falling rocks.



SO, there's a lot of fiddly stuff to say about animations.

Firstly, all animated items will be able to be equipped in either static (non-animated) or animated modes. By default they will equip as a static item - in order to animate them, make sure to select "Animations" from the drop down menu while dressing up! In order to ensure that it's in animated mode, make sure that the item name is followed by an "(Animated)".

Secondly, animated items will only layer either at the very top or very bottom of the khimera or HA image. You can also equip meteors over the "black background" item (only if you select the black background from the animations menu!). If you try to equip meteors above backgrounds or skies, it won't work yet.



We'll be doing some more work on the animations system and adding the rest of the backgrounds, skies, etc. at a later date. Remember that in the meantime, you can also just equip your meteors in the top layer.

Lastly, you may notice that you can't directly link to images in the usual way while animations are equipped. We've provided two new BBCode tags -- [khim=###] and [ha=###] (example usage: [khim=312461] or [ha=5067]), which may be used to show the full khimera or HA image on the forums, or link to the full khimera or HA image in chat - make use of these to show off your shinies!

Aaaand there is now a "Toggle Animated Items" link just above all animated khimeras or HAs that you can use to hide all animations if it's all getting too overwhelming for you.

I'm personally looking forward to seeing more animated items on the site :P Pretty nifty stuff.

This is your warning that you have only until midnight on the 15th to order your draakiths. Make sure you have any last minute orders in by that time!

I'd also like to just post a reminder to please not message or ping staff unnecessarily regarding your draakith orders.

If you have a question, you can post it in the thread that's designated for custom draakith questions. There is no need to ping staff unless you are in turn answering a question from a staff member and want to alert them.

Please try to avoid unnecessary PMs to staff members regarding draakiths. If you can post the question publicly, please post it in the designated thread. If you must PM staff, please do so once and then wait for a reply. It may take more than a day to get a reply - please do not keep sending PM after PM asking when your question will be answered, when your draakith will be ready, etc etc.

If you notice a glitch with your draakith base or an issue with your draakith image, you will need to submit a help desk report. It may take some time for a staff member to be able to deal with your report! Please not that if you have an issue with your draak BASE, you must not breed your custom until the issue is fixed - we'll try to get these issues fixed up quicky. If you have an issue with your alt overlay, you can breed your custom, however ALL draakith offspring images will update to the updated version if your original is altered, so please make any buyers aware of this or you will end up with angry customers who bought your alt only to have it changed at a later date! It may take some time for your issue to be handled if you are requesting a change to your alt (for example if you feel the alt you received is substantially different from what you ordered).

Please also remember to be courteous to staff at all times. Being upset/angry about something is NOT an adequate reason to take your frustrations out on the mods, who volunteer their time to contribute to the smooth running of the site.

As many of you will have noticed, there is now a percentage shown on the pages of gold custom khimera alternates.

There have been a lot of concerns expressed by those who have bought gold custom khimeras, regarding the "milling" of these alts - that is, users breeding out vast numbers of the alts to sell. Unfortunately this has led to a situation where some people are simply deciding not to breed or sell their alts at all, because they want to keep them limited to a degree, and until now there has been no way to do so.

After much consideration, we've decided to let gold custom owners have some control over the percentages that their custom alts will breed out at, for gen 3+ khimeras.

We didn't think that the idea of allowing users to "spay" or "neuter" their gold custom offspring fit well with the spirit of a breeding site, so we're allowing gold custom owners to have two new options.

You can choose anywhere from 2%, up to the regular 20%, as the alt image pass-on rate for your customs. All offspring that are gen 2 will continue to have a 20% chance of inheriting the custom overlay, but offspring that are gen 3+ will fall under the percentage restrictions.

Percentages are cumulative. That means if you breed two of the same alt together, and both are set to 2%, you will then have a 4% chance at an alt offspring.

If you breed one gold alt to a different gold alt, the chances of passing on the alt image will be calculated separately. For eample, say you have a Pantherophis draakith and a Kilauea draakith. The Pantherophis has a 10% chance to pass on the alt image, and the Kilauea has a 20% chance. You will have a total of 30% chance at an alt, with 10% being Pantherophis and 20% being Kilauea offspring.

The same scenario applies to breeding different kinds of gold customs together - a draakith and a khirin, for example. The caveat here is that the alt will only show if you get the right base - for example if a khirin alt is passed on but the base is a draak, then you will have a draak that carries a hidden khirin alt, but the alt won't show. If you then breed that draak offspring to an ayalon and the offspring is an ayalon AND the hidden khirin is passed on, then the khirin image will show.

The second choice we are giving gold custom owners, is to allow both male and female offspring to be born to the line, or for only female offspring to be born (this only applies to gen 3+ offspring, not to khimas born from the custom parent).

Allowing only females to be born will again reduce the number of alts that can be born from that line, since a female can only be bred once every two days, whereas a male can be studded out to a large number of females at a time.

Gold custom owners can mix and match these two choices to control the percentage of alts that they wish to be born from their line. For example, setting the rarity to 2% AND only allowing female progeny to be born will reduce the chance of alts by the maximum amount allowable.

Hopefully, this system will encourage some of those who have previously decided not to breed or sell any of the offspring from their customs to reconsider, since they can then be reassured that they won't see vast numbers of their alts being spread all over the site when they wish to keep them limited.

Gold custom owners can set percentage and offspring gender at any time here, and they can also change these settings between breedings. There is also a link available under the "home" menu. The changes will ONLY apply to offspring that are born during any particular setting of percentage and gender choices. They do not apply retroactively to khimeras that are already born (or already gestating).

Hopefully this will adequately address the issues brought up by gold custom owners as well as making more gold custom offspring available to the general public.

The sqls have certainly led us on a wild chase these past few weeks, but their numbers are now dwindling. In fact, it looks like we should have them all rounded up sometime tomorrow! Your last ditch efforts in catching the ones that continue to run loose is appreciated. If you happen to catch some, you do have until the day after tomorrow to turn them in.

Onyx--the Teamaster in the Tea Shoppe, has also announced that she will stop brewing staticification potions tomorrow, and warns that the ones she brewed previously will no longer be effective after tomorrow. If you wish to staticify any April fool's khimeras, you had best brew the potion and feed it to them today or tomorrow!

This month is randomly themed "Space Month"!


To kick things off, we will be offering these super spaced-out moon foregrounds.







The moons come in six colors- black, blue, grey,




red, tan, and white.




Moon foregrounds can be found in the cash shop, with two purchasing options. Moon foregrounds can be purchased either in a 3-pack of a single color (like three blues) for a bead, or a multipack containing one of each color can be purchased for 2 beads.



Please note! The packs contain foregrounds only. They do not contain the black backgrounds.
