This is just a general update to let everyone know what we're working on/what we plan to be working on in the upcoming months.

First up, the aluriya merger. As you all know, the merger was interrupted by losing our programmer. We have tried out a few programmers since then, and have now hired Karos as the full time programmer for the khimeros team, which encompasses khimeros, aluriya, and (soon) serafel, which as some of you may know, is a new site we hope to launch in the upcoming year.

Our first priority was to get Karos up to speed with the khimeros code before diving into aluriya, but we're getting close to where we can get back on track with the merge again!

Since it's been a while since the merge was discussed in the news, I'd like to remind everyone that the "merge" does not simply involve taking aluriya as it existed as a stand-alone site and plonking it down on khimeros, or taking bits and pieces of aluriya and integrating them into khimeros. There were a lot of tweaks to the game play implemented, a new nursery feature, and a brand new battle system created. In addition, when the land of aluriya opens on khimeros, all aether bases will have been revamped to the new shading and highlighting system, and there will be six new copper colors and three new mercury colors each for the kaze, haer, ethira and snow eagle! (that's 36 new colors, which had to be created for 2 poses, and in the case of the copper colors, 3 poses!) These will be the breeds available when the merge is complete, and we'll bring the rest of the breeds into the system a few at a time. Almost all the new colors are in place now, but we still have a little more work.

sneak Peek - the zombie ethira mercury aether!

As for non-merger related stuff. You may have noticed some changes happening around the site, like inventory quantity of foraging items, pagination and search functions for the equipment chest and safe deposit box, lair group tabs, and the beginning of our new system that allows for actions to take place without a full page refresh (as you've seen implemented in foraging).

These changes are the beginning of our Khimeros Version 2.0 project! In the upcoming weeks we'll be working on completely revamping the user interface and layout of the site for improved performance, intuitiveness, appearance, and in-game immersion. You will see reaorganized navigation, UI improvements, a brand new site layout, a world map, and we'll be moving away from a text based system for things like the bank, general store, etc and toward pictoral representations. This should lead to a greatly improved user experience!

And don't forget, Springtide is just around the corner!

I leave you with a sneak peek of the new layout! (Click the image for a larger view!)
