Aluriya Info
Aluriya is a new fantasy world and collectable/creatable pet site, with Beta accounts available from December 8, 2010!Accounts cost $10 (payable through paypal), and you get $15 worth of benefits when you join up!
Please note that you may only own ONE account per user, and transferring between accounts in the same household is not allowed!
Each new account receives one breed sprite that may be used to make a Limited Edition aether (breeds change by availability),
one double pack of hibbari mini pets(a new breed is available every month), and a free month of upgrade time. Upgrading provides you with
real benefits like increased gathering turns (used to make site currency and gather sprites) and more daily harvests from your aethers.

Below is some information regarding pets, game play, and the world of Aluriya.
Aethers
Aethers are the collectable/creatable creatures of Aluriya. Collect tiny wild spirit creatures called "Sprites" and combine them
into limited-time Aether breeds to collect, trade, and customize. Both basic customs (created through the custom demo using
site-created markings) and one-of-a-kind customs created by our lead artist, Hibbary, are available. Harvest "Breed Sprites" to
combine into hybrid Aethers, and "Replicant Sprites" to replicate your Aether customs to sell and trade!
Aether breeds come in two different poses and three default colors each, and are available to create for two months, after which they
retire. You may still create cash-shop breeds after retirement if you have the sprite to use, or purchase one from another user.
Available breeds until the end of March are the Storm Wolf and the Phoenix! The Storm Wolf is the free, createable breed and the
Phoenix sprites are availabe through the cash shop. Phoenix sprites are available for $5 each and come in 3 random colors and
2 poses.
"Customizing" Your Aethers
If you wish to customize your pet, you can do so through the custom demo/creator where you can choose a base color, an eye
color, and three different breed-specific markings plus 2 additional markings of your choice for 15 Gold Shards (real money currency).
Additional markings cost 5 Gold Shards each and there is no limit to the amount of markings you can choose. You may also choose to
purchase one-of-a-kind customization of your pet for an additional fee.
Pets are also available to purchase from other players using site currency earned in-game, without spending cash, and there is always an aether
breed available that you can create for free, using sprites you find around the site!

You do not have to have an Aluriya account to use the Demo. Keep in mind that only the Panthira and Luna are currently available
(until the end of January). The Hsulan and Arabi are retired pets that are now purchaseable only from other users. You can still
make customs with retired breeds, but you will need to obtain a base pet from another user first ;)
"Breeding" Your Aethers
Aluriya is not a breeding site per se, however you can duplicate your customs, or create new aethers that are a blend of differet
customs! Duplication requires only one custom aether of any gender, so there is no need to purchase a breeding "pair". You will
need either two of your own customs to create a "Fusion", or you can choose to breed to another user's custom. Customs used to
produce a Fusion aether "offspring" can be of any gender, breed, or pose! Basic "silver" customs can create a Fusion with other
silver customs, and one of a kind "gold" customs can create a Fusion with other gold customs (gold blends coming soon). Various
kinds of sprites are also used for replication/blending.
Hibbari
Hibbari are limited edition collectible mini-pets that you can equip to your Aethers or display in a special Hibbari gallery. They
can be won in games, tempted to join you using honeycomb collected from the Orchard, and purchased through the cash shop. (Shown

Sprites
Sprites are tiny creatures that come in many different varieties. They are obtainable by collecting from the orchard and
wild herb garden; by purchasing from the cash shop; and by harvesting from Aethers that you own.
Sprites can be used for different kinds of site activities like creating collectable Aethers, combining to form hybrid aethers,
creating limited edition cash shop breeds, replicating your basic customs and themed customs, redeeming for chances to win
items and currency, and creating collectible Hibbari breeds. More uses for Sprites will be added in future :)
The World of Aluriya
Aluriya (Ah-LOOR-ee-yah) is a land of islands "floating" on a sea of thick mist and a partially liquified substance known as aquos.
Legend says that in ancient times, people lived on the planet below, before an unknown cataclysm covered the land in mist and
aquos and dislodged chunks of the planet's mantle to float above. A few people survived, and islands were lashed together using
rope and wood bridges, and later, the great root bridges stretching from tree to tree, island to island. It is believed that the
islands keep their place in the sky via some kind of magnetic interaction between the islands and the planet beneath, though this
has never been proven.
Occasionally another chunk of land rips free from the planet and rises up through the aquos to form a new
island. Where possible, these are searched out and towed back to the floating cities, where they are gradually worked from bare
rock to arable land. Newer islands tend to have a more conical structure to their underlying rock, whereas the oldest islands
may be extremely weathered and worn, with deep depressions or holes worn through.
Arable land is at a premium in Aluriya, so most houses are built in the great trees, or hollowed into the underlying rock
structure, with windows carved to the outside air and balconies added. Spacious boardwalks are often added around the perimeter
of islands to increase the square footage.
Water on the islands comes from both rainfall and from water drawn up from the mist and aquos, through the porous
rock base of the islands where it gathers in pools and eventually creates streams and rivers that run off the edge of the islands
in waterfalls.
The people of Aluriya keep smaller kinds of livestock for meat, including chickens and pigs, and plant fruit trees, berry canes
and vegetable gardens. Cloud fishing provides another source of protein in the form of creatures resembling fish and crustaceans
that live in the aquos and the mist above. Fast-growing bamboo provides most of the wood used in construction and hemp is grown
for rope and cloth. There are few grain crops grown on Aluriya.
Main game play on the site takes place on the conglamorate of islands known as Alewynde (Ah-le-WIN-deh). There are three basic
groups of people on Alewynde: landholders and those employed by them; the Pirates who travel around the perimeter of the islands
on "ships" constructed of small islands; and the Wanderers, a mixed group consisting of those who have only tiny landholdings moored
temporarily to the main Islands or no landholdings at all, who survive by foraging or engaging in various crafts like peddling herbs,
creating leather goods, or performing small services like mending and seasonal garden work.
